The Free version of NotifyWire is fully functional and can do everything the Pro version can. It's limited by the number of locations and categories you can add to one search. You can also only save one search. With the Free version, NotifyWire must be running in order to get alerts and since NotifyWire starts at login and runs in the background, that just means you must have your computer on. The pro version doesn't have this limitation.

Yes. This isn't something you can do with other Craigslist® monitoring software because you're IP address would get banned by Craiglist. NotifyWire distributes the monitoring load to all the computers running NotifyWire which distributes the searches amongst hundreds of IPs.

This is also more friendly to Craigslist's servers because instead of having hundreds of individuals monitoring their site they have one individual system which shares one search result amoungst many interest individuals. Imagine if 100 people where searching for a car in New England. If they individually monitored Craigslist® every 10 minutes, they'd generate 6 (checks an hour) * 24 (hours in a day) * 14 (locations) * 100 (people) == 201,600 hits against Craigslist®! If they all used NotifyWire there searches would have only generated 2,016 hits because of how NotifyWire aggrigates there searches into one Craigslist® Search.

Well, it depends. The system is limited to checking a Craigslist® URL no more than every 5 minutes. Because of the unique way NotifyWire distributes the search load, the timing varies by the number of NotifyWire clients online and the number of Craigslist® URLs being monitored. Typically NotifyWire checks Craigslist® every 7-12 minutes, but sometimes longer.

Currently, NotifyWire only supports US and Canada. These are by far the countries where Craigslist® is popular. We are planning to support all english speaking counties soon. If you feel Craigslist® is popular in your country tell us.

Craigslist® is broken up into several groups of categories. NotifyWire can search and monitor all categories listed under For Sale, Housing, Jobs, Gigs, Resumes, and Communities. We don't currently support Personals, but we are considering ways in which it can be supported in the future.

Craigslist® supports "and" (a space equal and), "or" (the pipe | equals or), and "not" (- equals not) logical operators as well as quoted phrases. All search criteria must match a full word, meaning "bike" doesn't match "bikes". You can (and should) specify the order of precidence in your complex search using parentheses.

Below is a search for a 1999 - 2001 Mercedes Benz CLK 430. It starts by saying the ad must contain the year we're looking for as either the full year or the abbriviation. The ad must also contain one of the following: Mercedes, Benz, or MB. The ad must also contain the model info CLK and the number 430. Finally, the ad must not contain the word convertable.

The best way to search is to start off simple and add complexity to remove the ads you don't want to see. Creating a good search will help NotifyWire send you very targeted alerts.

Yes, if there is an email address available in the ad, NotifyWire sends the alert to you with the reply to address being the address of the seller.
